VOICES Programs

For children and their teachers...

For performers...

For the community...

For the Community,

VOICES not only holds concerts exemplifying the best in vocal music performance—old and new, familiar and cutting edge, but also includes information designed to educate the public about the compositional aspects of choral music. The conductor often begins a performance by demonstrating various musical elements audiences will hear, as well as explaining any special instruments or techniques involved.

VOICES strives to interest audiences through presenting information in an engaging way and inviting audiences to sing specific folk tunes or carols.

Community Outreach Concerts

VOICES performs one-hour community outreach concerts from time to time for audiences that might not otherwise hear good choral singing — for example, retirement homes and villages, Trenton Psychiatric Hospital residents, small town churches and other intimate settings.

  Pennsylvania Council on the Arts

This project (VOICES COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAM) was supported by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency, through its regional arts funding partnership, the Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts (PPA). State government funding for the arts depends upon an annual appropriation by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and support from the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency. PPA is administered in this region by the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance.

The Genuardi Family Foundation is a private foundation that supports direct providers of education, health, human services and culture in the greater Philadelphia area.

Benefitting the community...

In March 2007, Sotto Voce performed Fern Hill, based on Dylan Thomas’s evocative poem—recollections and reflections of his summers on a farm as a boy, as part of a concert benefiting the St. Michael's Preservation Project of the D&R Greenway Land Trust.
