VOICES' mission is to deepen the public
appreciation of vocal music by performing outstanding choral music at a high
artistic level and by supporting the creation of new
works. |
|

|
VOICES Chorale, an auditioned chorus with more than 60 members from New Jersey and Pennsylvania, was founded in 1987 to provide outstanding performance opportunities for community singers.
The chorale performs an unusually varied repertoire, including masterworks and premieres by American composers, with three concert series per season in Princeton and in Bucks County, PA. VOICES also offers small group and solo opportunities, performing music from great composers of the past to contemporary compositions.
VOICES also sponsors an annual Young Composers Project for children ages 5 to 12 and a series of outreach concerts at senior residences in the Princeton area and Bucks County, PA. |

VOICES rehearsing at Music Together, Hopewell,
NJ |
VOICES performs six to
eight formal concerts and several
outreach concerts for retirement communities each year in Mercer County, New
Jersey and Bucks County, Pennsylvania. VOICES has appeared with major orchestras, including the Pittsburgh Symphony, the New Jersey Pops, Riverside Symphonia, and Princeton Symphony Orchestra. The group has performed in
New York City and has toured internationally three times, with our most recent tour, to
Bavaria and northern Italy, in the
spring of 2007. Our current membership is over 65 singers, including a 24
member chamber ensemble called Sotto Voce. Our rehearsals intersperse historical information and interpretive skills with the disciplined practice essential to fine performance. We usually rehearse Monday nights
from 7:30-9:45 pm at
Music Together's International Headquarters in Hopewell, New
Jersey.
VOICES also has a variety of programs of interest
for: children and their
teachers, performers,
and the community.
Are you too busy to sing? Our members find our rehearsals and performances to be a special time for ourselves. Making music together, even in its most energetic moments, creates an "oasis of spirit" which we take with us for days; it re-energizes us and re-focuses us on enjoying and valuing the things that are most important in life. Singers interested in joining VOICES Chorale are invited to contact the audition coordinator, Sandy Duffy, at 609-799-2211, or e-mail auditions@VOICESChorale.org.

VOICES expands Educational Outreach to Young Conductors and Students
Brittany Montoro, Evan Wallach, and Dr. Lyn Ransom |
VOICES announces the appointments of Brittany Montoro as new Assistant Conductor in a two-year position, and Evan Wallach as College/University Choir Intern, a one-year position.
Brittany Montoro recently completed her Master of Music in Sacred Music from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, where she studied organ with Ken Cowan and conducting with Joe Miller, James Jordan, and Steve Pilkington. She is organist and choir director at the First United Methodist Church of Freehold, New Jersey, instructor in piano and voice at the Branchburg School of Music, and accompanist for the Rider University Chorale. In addition to her avid love of choral music, she enjoys reading, dancing, yoga, and cooking for friends. Ms. Montoro made her VOICES conducting debut with five songs from Brahms’ Zigeunerlieder (Gypsy Songs) on March 9 and 10, 2013, in Princeton and Bucks County. She will conduct selected works on concerts over the next two years, as well as apprentice in artistic administration.
Evan Wallach is currently a junior at The College of New Jersey, where he studies guitar with James Day and has studied voice with Phillip Cave and Robert Guarino. He also studies conducting with John Leonard and Ryan Tibbetts. He is a singer in the TCNJ Chorale and was recently involved with Lyric Theater's 2012 production of Orfeo ed Euridice. Founder of the TCNJ Handbell Choir, he managed the ensemble and conducted various pieces for them during his sophomore year at the college. He plans to develop his interests in technology, stage management, and singing during his internship with VOICES.
These new positions have been created as an expansion of VOICES educational outreach, which also includes VOICES' Young Composer’s Project. |
